Job Description:
IT Support - Administrator - Main Contractor
My client are a market leading contractor specialising in the refurbishment and construction of public sector housing. The company is on a massive and exciting growth path, expanding all its operating regions, leading to new positions and a wealth of career development opportunities for employees.
They are currently looking to recruit an experienced IT Administrator. You will be reporting to the IT Manager and will be responsible for ensuring efficient and reliable day-to-day operation of computer systems and data/voice networks. Key accountabilities:
IT Support - Ensure that software, hardware and network support and upgrade procedures are in place Computer Hardware - Install and support hardware, including servers, network equipment Systems & Application Software - Ensure that all software is correctly licensed and legally compliant; manage e-mail provision within agreed service levels Data & Voice Networks - ensure highly-resilient and adequately specified data and voice networks; maintain data networks; coordinate support for voice networks & switches (PBXs) Policies, Procedures and Standards - Implement corporate policies, procedures and standards; Comply with legal requirements, including Data Protection Act; Coordinate local induction & training programmes to ensure users are aware of their responsibilities, including access controls, abuse of corporate services, use of e-mail, Internet access etc Information Security - Monitor & maintain control measures to prevent information security incidents, this includes backup/recovery, password/access controls, physical controls etc; ensure agreed measures are in place to ensure e-mail integrity, including safe storage, secure access, anti-virus software and content scanning Disaster Recovery - Ensure disaster recovery procedure is in place for all IT equipment and facilities, including contingency arrangements and escalation procedures; Ensure that disaster recovery procedure is regularly updated and tested; Ensure that IT support staff are fully aware of their roles and responsibilities in the event of a major incident Projects & Innovation - Provide support for group-wide IT projects in conjunction with IT Management Team, identifying constraints or resource issues where applicable; Identify opportunities for new technology and applications and communicate these to the IT Manager; Test new technology in a pilot environment before roll-out
To qualify for this exciting opportunity you MUST have previous experience working in an IT Support role. You will have a good knowledge of computer hardware and software applications along with Active Directory, Citrix Presentation Server, SQL, Exchange and an extensive knowledge of working with MS Office Products. You must have the ability to work unsupervised and to strict deadlines along with plan, prioritise and organise workloads to ensure work is carried out within set timescales.
